Road safety starts with you. Driving Safety Tips -- Blind Spot
When driving, it is most important to keep as safe as you can. One of the top tips is to keep your eyes constantly moving, scanning the road ahead and to the side. Check your mirrors every five seconds or so.
When using mirrors there is an area on each side of your vehicle where you cannot see. You may not see people or vehicles when they are in these spots.
Make sure you see other drivers and they can see you during driving. The following are some basic tips for driving safety.
1. It is necessary to keep a clear view when driving. Must not put anything in car windows that will block your view.
2. Make sure you can see out in any direction. The windows must not be coated with any material that keeps you from seeing out in any direction. And you are responsible to let others can see inside your vehicle from the windshield and front door windows. They must not be coated to keep someone from seeing inside the vehicle.
3. Check and adjust your mirrors and find your blind spots. Before changing lanes, passing and turning, you must check your blind spots to make sure it is safe to move. When checking your blind spots, turn your head to look over your shoulder. The rule is also applicable before opening your door when the car is parked next to traffic.
4. Lane change may cause accident if you do not check blind spots well or do not control your speed well. Follow the instruction as below.
a) Before making a lane change, check your mirrors to make sure there is an enough space in traffic for you to enter safely.
b) Look over your shoulder in the direction of the lane change to check your blind spot. If no car is at your blind spot, that is good. If any, keep the same lane and check again until no car is at your blind spot.
c) Make car signal immediately if the above 2 are OK.
d) Check again to make sure the way is clear and steer gradually into the new lane, maintaining the same speed or gently increasing it.
5. Stay out of other driver's blind spots, especially large vehicles like trucks.
6. If you find a car is at your blind spots for some time, gradually change your driving speed to let it out of your blind spots.
7. Take extra care to make sure the way is clear behind you when you back up. |
